The sol ended Friday slightly stronger at PEN2.838 per U.S. dollar, compared with PEN2.839 the previous session. So far this year the sol has appreciated 1.70% against the dollar.
The central bank intervenes to smooth out volatility in the exchange market.
The Central Reserve Bank of Peru intervened Friday in the foreign exchange market to buy $5 million.
That followed intervention to buy $20 million on Monday, $114 million on Tuesday and $131 million on Wednesday. There was no intervention on Thursday.
