Sandboarders from Peru and Brazil compete tomorrow and Sunday in Copa Sandboarding Peru, taking place near Paracas in the coastal Peruvian desert.
In this second annual competition, riders will compete in dunes more than 100 meters tall. Star competitors include Clenilso da Lima from Brazil and Victor Chávez of Peru.
"Over the past two years, Peru has become known as one of the best places for sandboarding in the world," says Martin Guerra, who is organizing the event.
To attend the event, there will be dune buggies providing transportation starting at 9:30 a.m. from kilometer 253 of the Panamericana Sur highway. For more information, see the website of Sandboarding Peru (English) (Spanish).
