Today is the last day to show support for Ricardo Zárate, the Peruvian chef and owner of the well-known Los Angeles restaurant, Mo-Chica.

Zárate is one of the candidates for the title of “The People’s Best New Chef,” a contest organized by Food & Wine magazine that has chosen the best chefs in each of 10 regions of the United States and presented them to a reader vote to choose the best.

As of 4 p.m., Zárate was leading with nearly half the vote. The next competitor, California native Brandon Sharp, had nearly 30 percent.
