Cameron Diaz in Cusco, Peru

(LIP-ir) -- American actress Cameron Díaz arrived to Cusco city, Peru's largest touristic region, this morning at 7:15 a.m. According to Renzo Guerrero, correspondent for El Comercio newspaper, she arrived to Velasco Astete airport aboard a LAN flight this morning.

She was graciously received by the manager of a private security company that will accompany her until her departure Tuesday the 26th. Passengers that recognized her at the airport excitedly greeted her as she kindly responded.

Díaz, who plays the voice of Princess Fiona in the third part of the fairy tail twist Shrek the Third, is staying at the Libertador hotel in Cusco.

She is accompanied by a group of 12 people, consisting of her manager, a photographer, friends and bodyguards.

The famous Hollywood actress chose to start her visit in the Incan Empire with a stroll around Cusco's main square, where she was greeted by whoever recognized her. She has also enjoyed a show performed by the School of Fine Arts and is to visit the city of Machu Picchu within the next few days as well as enjoy the Inti Raymi celebration.

Members of her entourage have stated that this visit is for her to relax and enjoy the sights.

Díaz is not the only star to have visited Qosqo, the "belly button of the world." A few days ago Aussie-Brit singer and actress Olivia Newton John was caught by local media at the end of her visit to Cusco. When reporters asked her about her trip, she described it as "very beautiful."

As a reminder, we would like to encourage our readers to place your vote for Machu Picchu in the New7Wonders contest here (link).
