
(LIP-ir) -- Peru's Ministry of Transportation and Communication (MTC) has requested that Peru's government press charges against the transport company Cueva, which owns one of the buses that crashed on Tuesday leaving 17 dead and 38 wounded.
The charges consist of crimes against a persons life, body, and health (homicide). Other charges include, seriously wounding another person.
In an official notice, the Ministry of Transportation reported that the charges would be filed at the prosecutors office in Arequipa, against the legal representative of the bus company Cueva, Antonio Cueva Torres. MTC representatives are scheduled to travel to Arequipa Wednesday night.
Using the services of a notary, the MTC Directorate Office for Terrestrial Transport has notified the Cueva Transport Company that due to the fact that it has been using vehicles unfit for this type of transport, all services on the Nazca-Puerto Lomas-Bella Unión-Acari-Otapa-Huanca routes are suspended.
The company has also been notified that if within 30 days it does not prove that it can legally operate under the National Transport Administration Regulation, its concession to operate will be considered expired. The MTC Directorate Office for Terrestrial Transport is also making sure that the bus station being used meets state requirements.
