(LIP-ir) -- Among so much tragedy, death and destruction, one can still appreciate the miracle of life.
An example is Jesús, a robust, 3.5 kilo baby boy, born last night in a tent set up by Essalud, in Pisco's main square.
The proud father, Jesús Moquillaza, could not hold in his joy. Despite the fact that he lost his home during one of the worst earthquakes that has hit Peru, he expressed his great delight when his son was born.
"Everything has started all over for me. My son will give me the strength to push forward. I'm happy because now I have a new life and someone to fight for," stated the father emotionally.
The doctor that delivered the baby, Carlos Orellana, stated that it had simply been "marvelous" to have seen the birth of a child after having been among so much death.
Peru's President visited the newborn child and his parents. President Garcia was also moved by the child's birth. "Birth is a message of life, of the spirit's persistence and mankind's strive to maintain itself and survive," stated President Garcia.

like many others, i seek the chance to help. i'm an american citizen born in peru. i was wondering if there was any way to travel to pisco peru with a volunteer group or organization in order to reach out to those who need it the most. in my search online, in order to volunteer you must pay a fee, as big as a vacation fee. i am available o do this, i just need some guidance. if someone can help me with this, it will be truly appreciated.Add your comment
