(LIP-ir) -- According to Peru's Government News Agency, Geologists and Physicists from the University of San Agustin (UNSA) will travel to the Carancas community located in the Province of Chucuito in the Region of Puno, Peru to study the landing site of what is thought to be a meteorite.

It was reported that this was the landing site of what is believed to be a meteorite which crashed in the area near Bolivia and caused a light seismic movement. The magnitude of the seismic movement has not been officially determined yet.

Director of the UNSA Geophysical Institute, Armando Minaya, stated that a group of 3 or 4 specialists would travel to the landing site and thoroughly inspect the diameter of the crater left by the supposed meteorite which landed on Saturday.

Peru's Andina News Agency reported that Minaya stated that the seismic movement caused by the landing was registered to be Level II on the Mercalli intensity scale.

Municipal authority, Marco Limachi, reported that after the unidentified glowing object fell from the sky, the citizens of the town of Carancas began to have migraines, nausea and diarrhea.

Limachi stated, "the animals aren't eating and some people are stuttering, it seems to be because they are frightened and worried about the impact."
