(LIP-ir) -- Field tests for the implementation of terrestrial digital television broadcasting in Peru are to begin today announced the Ministry of Transportation and Communication (MTC), explaining that this was an important step in defining a Standard to use this type of technology in the country.
Last Friday, Peru's MTC headed a meeting with representatives from institutions that were involved in broadcasting and operating in Peru.
The company's representing the three international standards: ATSC, ISDB-T and DVB-T have been setting up transmission equipment for the analysis, all according to the technical specifications established for the field tests, announced Peru's MTC.
The protocol for the field tests is being established by the Multisectoral Commission, which will also recommend the standard that is best for Peru to use. Field tests are to evaluate reception while in movement and reception inside of residences within broadcast range.
The Multisectoral Commission, presided by a representative of Peru's MTC, was established on February 21, 2007 with the purpose of suggesting the best standard for digital television broadcasting in Peru.
