Peru: Telemundo takes Laura Bozzo off the air in the U.S.

Laura Bozzo, a Peruvian talk show host that has caused controversy and had several run-ins with the law, had her show Laura en Accion taken off the air in the United States.

The show was canceled by the American television network Telemundo last Tuesday, El Comercio daily reported.

According to the daily, the world's second-largest Spanish-language content producer took the show off the air because of its low ratings.

Laura en Accion, which was canceled by the Peruvian network América Televisión in March 2008, was the cause of controversy for allegedly involving minors in the program illegally.

The show's authenticity was questioned and it was believed that fake cases of family sex violence were presented.

Because of regular fights on the show and the nature of its content, it has been compared to a Peruvian version of the Jerry Springer Show, an American English-language talk show.

Upon the announcement that Laura's program would be canceled, journalists and media in Peru demonstrated to be happy with the decision and thanked Telemundo.

Thank you for taking her off the air.  She damaged how the world looks at Peruvian people.  Now many think we are cheaters and the worst people ever.  Yes, there are some problems, like in any other country, but there is no reason to show them off like that.  And I read that many of the cases are fake and they pay people money to be in the show, and of course Peru is not a country that is economically well off, so money is welcomed no matter what they have to say on tv.

Good, really, thanks for talking her off.

She doesn't deserve to be called peruvian, she embarrassed us with all her theater, fake cases, humiliating people that for a couple soles did ridiculous things.

The result of this is that we are seen like cheap and fake people in the world. Honestly she is a shame for our country, our beautiful, honorable and respectable and very, very friendly PERU.

I enjoyed all of her staged fist fights! Chairs being thrown around, kicking, scratching, clawing, spitting, tearing off cloths, and on, and on, and on. Jiffy Pop Pop Corn made a small fortune off of my house at one time!!

Jiffy POP? Come on dude. If your going to pop corn, get the good stuff. Act II is way better. Time Warner had her on every night in Houston on SUR. Comcast bought out Warner & took away ALL the Peruvian shows and news to cater to the Mexicans with Mexican shows. You folks think Laura was bad? Try a dose of the Mexican stuff. The pop corn popping will really slow down then.

They used to have Laura shows in Colombian Tv.,  and I was very embarrased when colombians asked me, why all people in Peru did not have teeth and they very ugly and very poor ( Lets thank Laura for this) and also, the famous "Senorita Laura", many people in USA make fun of peruvians, calling them "Senorita Laura"

I have to disagree with you. Of 86 of the poorest countries, there are 56 that have a larger percentage of the population living below the poverty level then Peru.

So yes every country has it's share of uneducated trash. But Peru by percentage does not have more due to poverty. The racism I cannot attest to.

Racism is so bad in Peru that it is a common insult (even among family members) to call someone Indian or Black or say that he has more of such ancestors in his blood even when both people are mixed (mestizo) and obviously have such ancestors...

Does anyone know if there will be a release of her shows on a DVD Box Set? If so pass the info this way because I would be the first in line to buy it. Peru is a beautiful country and so are its people. Any body with more than one brain cell knows that she did not speak for the whole country. If this were the case, then Jerry Springer, Morton Downey, & Okra Wimpfre wrote the book for USA. Laura had a good show I thought.

If you're in Lima, Polvos Azules is your best bet. I'm sure they have every one of her shows. If they don't, rest assured they'll get it for you.

Glad to see that this trash was taken off the air.  Even more so that people decided to stop watching it and caused such low ratings.

In many parts of the US when latinos hear the word Peru, they immediately bring up Laura's show because that's all they know of Peru.  They remember the drama aad horrible conditions and terrible way it shows Peruvians treating each other.  Living like animals.

InkaYupanqui, please, it is not necessary to YELL! This thread would be long forgotten except another person that finds it necessary to yell, IRMADAVILA, brought it back up again.

Yes the show in question only gave a slanted view of Peru much like the Jerry Springer show here in the States. But garbage in garbage out is what you get. It would be much nicer to see a show based in/on Peru that expressed the positives of Peru.

I am not taking issue one way or another on the topic here as I personally believe if you do not like a tv show, dont watch it and dont decide for me what is good or not...

But I have to take issue with something you said.

You said first that this is a democratic blog, then you said anyone that writes different than you should need NOT be criticized.

If you can not critize, then what is democratic about this blog?

I am not Peruvian but I have many friends that I have much love for here in the states that are Peruvian. Just because a person enjoys a TV show doesnt mean that because of that show their perception of the people on it apply to the country as a whole. That only shows that you are quite ignorant to believe everything you see on TV. Just like someone else mentioned if people of other countries watched Jerry Springer we here in the states must be a bunch of hill billy red necks that came to town in a wagon. She just like Jerry Springer was out to make money but now and days who isn't??? I am not saying its right but to each its own....... I did enjoy the show and hate to see it cancelled....... I am sure she did help some of those people on the show....atleast I hope she did. Many of her fans are heart broken and hope she is well.......
