The bank indicated that such events will help the country show its achievements and expand the positive image that Peru is already projecting to the world. “The designation of Peru as venue of the summits is a form of recognition to the stability and security conditions reached by the country during the last years”, expressed the bank. Likewise, it is a recognition to the compromise of the Peruvian democracy and the respect for the human rights because all these factors are considered before the election of a country as an international summit venue.

EU-LAC Summit not to be affected by protests, says Vega Llona
(LIP-do) -- The V Summit of EU-LAC not be affected by any protest called by labor unions in Peru, said EU-LAC summit organizer Ricardo Vega Llona who also remarked that not many Peruvians will take part in demonstrations. “Labor union leaders are trying to take advantage of EU-LAC summit to call people's attention and cloud it, but I am sure Peruvians will not support this type of opposition”, president of the EU-LAC High Level Commission, Vega Llona said. Vega Llona regretted that workers from different sectors have planned protests for the week of the EU-LAC summit, which is "an open window of opportunities for Peru". Despite possible strikes and demonstrations, Vega Llona hopes that labor union leaders will call off protests that could tarnish this big event gathering more than 40 heads of state and government from both continents.
