City of Kings for tourists - $4 million to promote tourism in Peru's northern regions


Lima, City of the Kings, offers many attractions to visitors

Lima, named the City of the Kings by the Spanish conquerors, was founded by Francisco Pizarro on January 18, 1535 on the Rímac valley It is the capital of Peru and a great metropolis with approximately eight million inhabitants. Its historic center was awarded the World Heritage Site status by Unesco in 1988. Peru earmarks $ 4 million to promote tourism in northern regions

Peruvian minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Mercedes Aráoz, said today that about four million dollars (11 million nuevos soles) will be earmarked for the promotion and carrying out of tourist development projects in Peru's northern regions. She highlighted that all northern cities have important tourist resources which is why the government has earmarked 35 percent of the annual total budget (over 35 million soles) for tourist development projects. Peru to promote adventure, nature and cultural tourism in Mexico

The Commission of the Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Agency (PromPerú) will promote adventure, nature and cultural tourism in Peru in the event "Specialized Door to door Mexico 2008 ", which will be held in Mexico City from May 18 to 22. Peru to promote communitarian tourism at Brazilian fair

The Commission of the Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Agency (PromPerú) will participate in the international tourism event II Communitarian Tourism Showroom of Latin America and the II International Seminar on Sustainable Tourism to be held in Brazil. Both events, which are organized by Derramar Institute and the Forum on Defense of the Costeira Zone of Ceará, will take place from May 12 to 15 at Fortaleza city.
