EU-LAC Peru 2008 | 13 May, 2008 [ 09:42 ]
XXVI EU-LAC Senior Officials Meeting in Lima, Peru opens today
(LIP-do) -- Senior officials from the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean will open today the preparatory meetings of the V EU-LAC Summit which is to begin this Thursday in Lima. The meeting will take place at 11 a.m. at Lima’s National Museum.
The meeting’s goal is to prepare and approve the final draft of the Declaration of Lima which is to be signed by the Heads of State and Government at the end of the EU-LAC summit.
Before this meeting, representatives of both blocs will hold a coordination meeting between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Then, EU Troika and Latin America and Caribbean officials will meet at 10:30 a.m.
According to the official schedule, the Slovenian presidency of the European Union will offer a lunch to all officials attending the meeting. After lunch, EU-LAC Senior Officials Meeting will resume until 19:00 p.m.
Finally, Peruvian and foreign journalists accredited to cover this crucial summit will be honored in a local restaurant at 20:30 p.m.
