(LIP-do) -- Health centers in the jurisdictions of the areas of Salud II Lima Sur, IV Lima Este, V Lima Ciudad and I Callao, will be on "yellow alert" today from 8:00 a.m. until Monday, May 19, as is the schedule set forth by the Plan of Operations of the V European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean (EU-LAC) Summit held in Lima this week.
This plan will allow specific personal protection measures for the prevention of risks or hazards to be executed, based on a Plan of Contingency previously approved of.
Some of these measures include: the reinforcement of guards at health centers and a guarantee of systems of communication and transportation, availability of beds, adequately stocked medicine supplies and the assurance of continual services of water reserves, food supplies, and more.
Emergency medicine, hospitalization and Intensive Care Units will find themselves with at least 20 percent of beds available at any emergency's disposition.
Directors of these establishments, chiefs of emergency medicine and others will be available on hand permanently for the duration of the summit, should there be an emergency to deal with.
Ambulances will have the necessary equipment to transport patients and combustibles necessary for 24 and 48 hours.
The "yellow alert" was declared by the Ministral Resolution Nº 318-2008/Minsa sent out on May 10, which counts on the General Office of National Defense to monitor, supervise and evaluate its execution.
