An American investor in Peru, Renee Levy, has asked the U.S. government to intervene in a dispute with Peru over 500 acres of legally acquired ocean-front real estate development property in Lima that she asserts Peru is attempting to expropriate in violation of her rights under the recently enacted U.S.-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement.# CapitanDan says :

Hmm, Something smells fishy here. The Levy family having lived in Peru and obviously not the working poor should know how fickle business dealings can be in Peru. Their assertion that the FTA grants them more rights or that the U.S. congress can do anything is ludicrous. Congress is too busy worrying about a recession, oil prices and a war. I don't foresee the use of the US Marines to uphold their claim. But to be fair the Levy"s should get their money back with interest from the day they bought the property. This land should then be used as the national institute state as part of Solar Hill. Any other use would clearly show the real intentions of the Government. Hmm, living on a boat looks better everyday. Chau

I have just arrived back in canada after trying to purchase property in
ventanillia just out side of lima. cost of doing commercial businness to
expensive. the police corrution finnally did it i left. being stopped for no
reason and fined up to $100 dollars ( in their pocket) or taken to jail.
some times only $20 dollars . callao was the worst place. suggest
the government clean up the police force. I would have had near 100
local poeple hired.

Add your commentWell if Peru paid better wages and had social security and all the good things powerful USA has, Then maybe they would have a decent Police Force. HAHAHA. Peasant Latin Workers work for 50 cents or less an hour in South America & when they sell latin American goods in USA its sold at a decent price while Latinos starve. So excuse me if I laugh at your troubles.
