Peru's President Alan Garcia announced in a press conference on Thursday that the country's new Environment Minister would be the ecologist Antonio Brack.

During his presentation of Brack as the Andean country's new minister, President Garcia assured the ecologist was an extremely respected man and would do a great deal for the recently established Ministry of the Environment.

"I am honored that Mr. Antonio Brack has accepted to be a minister and he will have all of my support to do what is needed to be done to protect the environment," Garcia said.

Brack assured that he would do everything in his power to run the ministry in a way that generated more investments for Peru.

"I've served my country in environmental issues for 45 years. I can continue doing so as a minister or doing what I'm doing. I don't have any problem with that," said Brack before he was asked to be minister.

According to Prime Minister Jorge del Castillo, the new environment minister will be sworn in Friday afternoon at the National Museum, the site where the EU-LAC summit is taking place.

"What better place," said Peru's Premier, stating that one of the EU-LAC summit's purposes was to find solutions for environmental issues.

This is absolutely wonderful news!!!!! Terrific!!!! There could not have been a better person suited for this ministry. Congratulations Antonio Brack.
I am sure the environment here sighed a big sigh of relief. Not just to get a Ministry for the Environment, but the man himself.
I look forward to seeing and helping with this enormous and important challenge.

Any news is good news. If he doesn't do well as minister he may be hired as Peru's version of Indiana Jones. Laughing
