Living in Peru

Museums across Peru took heed to recommendations made by UNESCO and the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and celebrated International Museum Day on Sunday.
UNESCO, along with the ICOM encouraged countries across the globe to celebrate this year's International Museum Day, whose theme is "Museums as agents of social change and development".
UNESCO has stated that it firmly believes that movable cultural objects and the museums in which they are preserved are exceptional repositories of cultural diversity.
Furthermore, the organization has affirmed that museums are an integral part of understanding a cultural heritage.
Keeping this in mind, museums across Lima and Peru organized events to celebrate this important day.
The National Museum of the Archaeology, Anthropology, and History of Peru - located in the district of Pueblo Libre in Lima - is opening its doors and granting visitors free admission for three days, providing participants with free tours, shows and workshops.
The museums belonging to the country's National Culture Institute will also be opening their doors to visitors, providing them with tours of ruins and other historical sites.
