Peru: Photo of the day - 20,000 alpacas to receive aid

A group of professionals and specialists are to head from Lima to the southern region of Arequipa to aid 20,000 alpacas which are being affected by extremely low temperatures in Peru's high Andes. The kits that are being prepared for the needy alpacas comprise vitamins, antibiotics, syringes, needles, cotton and other material donated by Minera Bateas mining company. 600 blankets are also being taken to be given to farmers.

what the h#ll are they doing shearing these animals when it's so cold??? With their natural hair coat these animals are more than adequately equipped to deal with cold temps. So the farmers shear them regardless of the weather to earn every sol they can, but risk death to the very animals that ARE their source of income? How stupid and cruel.Add your comment
