Peru: US band Megadeth pleases Limean thrash metal fans

It was, without any question, one of the most expected concerts for Peruvian metal fans.

Lead singer Dave Mustaine and Megadeth did not disappoint the six thousand “headbangers” who gathered last night at the Monumental Stadium in Lima.

Black shirts, leather jackets and long hair were part of the long queue outside the stadium.

The concert started at 20:59 h (01:59 GMT), one minute ahead of schedule.

The night started with “Sleepwalker”, one of the singles in Megadeth’s latest album, “United Abominations” and was followed by “Washington is Next”.

Mustaine sang four more songs and then said in Spanish “Welcome to the house of Megadeth”. He later greeted the audience in English.

Some of the songs performed by the band include “Wake Up Dead”, “Peace Sells”, “Take No Prisoners”, “Skin O' My Teeth”, “Kick the Chair”, “In My Darkest Hour” and “Symphony of Destruction”.

For a few hours, Lima became the capital of metal. Megadeth pleased each one of its fans to the fullest.

Heavy metal isn't really my cup o' tea, I don't mind some of it, but to the person who whined that metal is out of fashion since the 80's... I hope salsa and merengue aren't your thing then. Those genres went out of style the minute after they were in ;)

Not to mention the totally pointless (and repetitive) themes and lyrics...

The concert was crap. A lot of electronic noise and shouting...
No talent. The only object it served is to excite alot of angry teenagers who are too dumb to have any taste in music... All they wanted was
to shout and scream and let the anger out...

I suggest you listen to DISCO that way you will be HAPPY :)
No need to be angry, be classy and refined with DISCO

Now lets see which has more talent.

Disco requires an orchestra with 30 to 40 or more people playing
real instruments such as violins, cellos, violas, harps, guitars, a real double bass, etc.etc.etc.
In addition it requries an orchestra leader, music arranger, song writer, lyrics writer, a main singer, three background singers, and numerous other people (take a look at the back of a Disco LP and see how many people are listed.)

Megadeth has 4 people,  two play guitars, one plays a bass and and drum and they try to sing (i should say shout) songs which they apparently wrote themselves. Wow what a vast array of talent.... compared to the numerous array of people involved in disco music.

Well, the Dave's technique to play the guitar it's amazing, he's a metal f*** monster!!. The sound was s***** at the beginning but *** Megadeth is Megadeth!!!

disco you are a complete moron and have no idea what you are talking about, megadeths music like many other metal bands is extremeley intricate and it takes many years of practice to be able to play at that level, dave mustaine is an incredibly talented song writer both musically and lyrically, and the fact that megadeth is still going strong after 25 years is a good indication of this, so just grow up and keep your narrow minded opinions to yourself.

Good for you peruvian friends, because in Brazil we had a lot of horrible concerts...especially in Belo Horizonte city. We had a horrible sounds from Megadeth (technnicals problems) and a very short set list......

This is the true "concert abominations" !!!

Lima deserves this kind of shows. We are tired to watch on tv and listen on the radio "regueton" and "chicha" music.
Congratulations and thanks a lot Mr. Menacho, you have balls man for bringing this great band in despite of the high price of tickets.

I was born in 1958, and yes, I do love the early 70's, but for those people thinking that they are still in the 50's 60's 70's 80's or even 90's I have some news. We are in the year 2009 (almost). And these are different times. So for the wimps that are still living in the disco era and the other folks that they believe their lyrics are better or more decent, they should come down to earth and face reality.
There were groups in the past the they played "protest", perhaps you all forgot. Nowadays, we have similar groups and more powerful that can move masses with their messages of truth. Megadeth is one of them. If, for those peruvians (in this case) that can read between the lines and understand the msg, they will see that Megadeth is one of those groups that thru Metal, bring their word. They don't worship the devil, but they tell us who the real devils are.
So for those ignorants that believe they play crap, just do me a favor, do not listen to groups like Megadeth and keep your selfs where you are in the same dung of ignorance. No one asked you to listen. If you do, is under your own risk. So don't comment negatively if you don't understand what someone is telling you.
