Peru's Prime Minister Jorge del Castillo denounced the violence seen on Wednesday during a nationwide strike and march organized by the country's largest trade union federation.
In an interview on a television program Wednesday evening, the cabinet chief exclaimed that now that everything was said and done, it was time for those that organized the strike to assume the responsibility for the harm and damages caused.
Furthermore, Del Castillo assured that protestors were responsible for the death of a young woman in one of Peru's northern regions.
19-year-old Lucy de La Cruz bled to death in an ambulance as she was making her way to a hospital to give birth.
It was reported that protestors in Santiago de Chuco, a province in the region of La Libertad, would not clear the highway to let the ambulance reach the hospital.
Protestors were also held responsible for the attack on the headquarters of a social program in Huancavelica as well as the burning of a government building, which left approximately 21 police officers injured, in the region of Madre de Dios.
In Lima, reporters were attacked as union workers accused them of being paid to spread lies.

Hopefully all of these criminals do the jail time that they deserve. Really sad that a young woman had to die and that the people did not respect the ambulance.
I've seen this happen repeatedly in Peru. Cars cut off and block ambulances on purpose and the police do not enforce traffic laws that allow ambulances to get through traffic. It's a scary world here if there is an emergency. It often takes 30m to 2 hours to reach a hospital.

How can any rational Human Being think that these strikes and Riots can further the Labor Movement. This happens in Peru every time there is a strike. The Hoodlums and thieves use this opportunity to Rob and Pillage the country. Everytime Peru makes important strides forward, there are these incidents that propel the country backwards. It's time to hold the organizers of these strikes accountable Criminally and in civil lawsuits for this destruction. Chau Friends
