The legal frame of Peruvian telecommunications is considered one of the best in the Asia-Pacific region, the president of the Supervisory Board for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel), Guillermo Thornberry, reported.
"The head of Regulatory and Government Affairs for Latin America and the Caribbean of British Telecom, Ivana Kriznic, emphasized that regulations of telecommunications of Peru and Mexico are among the best practices in the region", he said to Andina news agency.
This is based on the level of transparency of the law enforcement and the degree in which participants are involved in the process, that is to say, considering their participation in the public hearings or meetings to support the laws.
In the framework of the 38th APEC Telecommunications and Information Technologies Working Group Meeting (TEL-WG), which takes place in Lima, Thornberry pointed out that delegates of the 21 economies discuss the role of the actors involved in telecommunications.
Likewise, they discuss how to improve interaction of actors in the sector to favor a greater development and benefit users, he added.
"We are analyzing the points of view of operators, regulators, but also of guiding entities (ministries of all APEC economies)", he said.
Around 150 experts of the Asia-Pacific region take part of this meeting, who tackle topics such as Development of Telecommunications to Control Disasters, and Promotion of Awareness on Cybernetic Security.
