Peru grants Swiss Hydro concession for 188-MW Retamal hydro project

Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) has granted Switzerland’s Swiss Hydro a temporary concession to undertake a feasibility study on the planned 188-MW Retamal hydropower project.

The twelve-month feasibility study will be undertaken in the Machupicchu and Ollantaytambo districts, province of Urubamba, Cusco.

Switzerland’s Swiss Hydro is required to carry out this study meeting technical and safety standards as well as preserving the environment and the country’s cultural heritage.

In addition, the Swiss company must comply with its obligations under the Electricity Concessions Law, its regulations and other relevant laws.
