Again, the Peruvian and Latin American media lust with Obama.
CNN Español has been looking like the Obama Español channel.
I think RPP is exaggerating their interaction with Obama in the report.

I feel that Obama would make a bad president. I feel that he would only take the money and do nothing to solve the problems of the USA. I feel that he lacks experience. I feel that he would only do as his handlers told him to do.

McCain wants to sign a free trade agreement with Colombia without analyzing the neighboring country's political and social situation, guess what? Sen.Obama said that under his presidency, he won't sign it until Colombia protects his labour unions workers, social stability, the environment and enables policies that promote equality. During the last debate he mentioned he had supported the Free Trade agreement with Peru because all conditions were met, so he knows what he is talking about and he knows that there is incredible potential in Latin America and that working together is the future! He got our votes already!

Well, we will see if that is traduced on the exemption of visas to peruvians.
USA citizen and many europeans enter to peru freely without any visa requirements, but peruvian must apply for visa first.
Apply reciprocity .
Visas Requirements for peruvians...then visas requirement for foreigners.

Dan,
I do not totally agree with you, I thik Obama will be his own man more than any president in recent history.
That being said, I do not think he will be looked upon with favor in 4 years (nor would McCain if he was elected) because the USA is so busted and broken by the last 8 years of mismanagment that it will take a decade or more to fix, and the fix will be hard and not pretty and whoever implements it will be hated.
However, I think Obama will do better at fixing it than McCain, and Palin would have no idea what to do, so that is why I voted for Obama.

I think Obama will be a great president. Even though I don't totatly agree with him in some issues, he has the world perspective, knowleged, education, charisma, and good judgement to lead America, and make us look good in the international community.
I'm and independent, and actually supported McCain in the primaries, but he lost my vote by selecting Sarah Palin and running a dirty campaign against Obama.
# David says :

Obama will be more his own man then any President in recent history?
I don't think so! All these guys are sell outs, his voting record has proven that thus far. Pork barrel spending? Both McCain and obama voted for the $700 billion bail out (Which neither one mention).
Yeah he'll be his own man! You forget this man came out of know where and got elected and with tons of money left over. I'd say his supporters will expect something of a favor in return.
And remember this, he wanted Don Imus fired for making insensitive comments but no Rev. Wright.
Personally I think they both had a right to say what they wanted but apples to apples if you fire one you've got to fire the other.

Let me ask one thing. Forget all these rumors. In Florida and maybe other states Obama is running an ad in English, on an English speaking station. At the very end of the ad it shows his name Barak Obama and then show the word "PRESIDENT" not "FOR PRESIDENT" but "PRESIDENT". What is this? Does Obama Believe that in this country he can be self appointed?In this country we elect our President they don't select themselves. Someone already tried to tell me it was put to way to reach the Latin community, as in Presidente Obama but if thats the case why place the ad on English speaking TV. My wife is of Latin decent and she finds that explaination offensive, as if a Latino person watching a TV station in English would not be able to understand the word "FOR".According to this ad none of your votes will matter on Election Day because Obama has already appointed himself or feels he has been appointed by some devine right. I say we should all show Mr. Obama just how much our votes count in the United States of America and vote "FOR" McCain.Is it not Illeagal to impersonate the President? and has Obama ever heard of false advertising.Listen, this is the first slap in the face to our Republic and our Democracy. I never believed in the B.S. rumors about Obama, but this is fact. We all of us as Americans should be outraged by this.Anyone who has ever served their country in any form should be outraged by this.Think about this, Americans have fought and died for our right to vote.Women have suffered in their struggle to obtain their right to vote.African Americans have gone through hell for their right to vote.Now Obama says none of that matters, you don't matter, your votes don't matter and your elections are a joke.I am the President because I say so.Now I understand why he wants to sit down with people like Chavez and Castro he wants advice. He wants them to explain how they managed to take the control of their country out of the hands of the people. As far as the other sit downs with N.Korea and Iran one can only imagine but I bet it is not a good thing for us Americans.

Obama talks about change. “Spread the wealth” What about choice? Many people donate every year to help others, they do it from their heart or they do it for tax reasons it doesn’t matter.
Who makes the choice of where that money goes? The people or the government.
We already have taxes going to a government run charity it’s called welfare and we all know how much good that has done over the years at creating a dependant way of life. That’s why welfare reform was needed.
I bet, if we all said sure we’ll make donations (a percent of our income) but not one dime will go into the governments hands and we will choose our own charities, Obama would be against that idea.
Obama does not only want to spread the wealth he wants to control where it gets spread to. Nice way to buy your own voter base.
The real question here is, Are you willing to give up choice just for the sake of change?
# mericorps says :

Devil,
Your first post does not even merit response, Obama is working his hiney off for every last vote and is until the last day and has made it very clear that this is the people's election and one word, or the lack of it for whatever reason you want to attribute it to does not change the the reality, no matter how bad you want it to...it is a silly and empty argument....or should I say cut and paste...
Obama does not want to spread the wealth, he wants to roll back the Regan and Bush middle class tax increases to the point it was before Regan tried his failed trickle down economics. Due to inflation and recession, the middle and lower classes are actually now paying a larger percentage of their income towards taxes after taking out for food, shelter and health care than the upper class, that is a fact..I do not want to pay a larger portion of my disposable income than a wealthy person..it is not fair.
And no, the people do NOT decide how to spend the tax money, we are not a populatest country...we have elected officials to decide that for us, it is called a republic or representative democracy. If we do not like the job they are doing, we have the CHOICE to vote them out of office.
Public assistance is not a charity...there are many myths about it..but the realities are very different. The average person who receives public assistance is a rural woman, usually with little education and a mother who has been abandonded by her husband. The concept of the inner-city woman having babies just for the money has largely been disproven and is only a small percentage of assitance. Further, the average person who receives public assistance use it for exactly what it was designed for, an helping hand during a difficult time, the vast majority use public assistance for less than 3 years. Those facts do not make very good sound bites, so the GOP ignores them and writes what they want. I find that to be very dissapointing and of bad character.
Clinton intiated a "welfare to work" program that is still in effect today and has been quite successfull at reducing the assistance rolls, or at least it was until Bush bankrupted the country and lost a record number of jobs and lowered the average income for the first time in decades.
The CHOICE we have is to put the money in the war or back into America, the choice we have it another 4 years of the same failed economic policies or go for a new direction, the choice we have is to have Sarah Palin finalize her passport to deal with a complex world in case of a tragedy should become McCain, or an international experienced Senator ready to step in for Obama should, God Forbid, something happen to Obama. I hope nothing tragic befalls any of them.
Under the Bush administration, more of our civil rights and freedoms and have been lost than through any other administration in history, (as defined by the number of Bush Administration policies and proceedures found unConstitutional by the courts) I think to continue his failed policies with McCain would further deteriorate American freedom and my CHOICE is to not allow that to continue to happen.

When the French Philosopher, Alexis de Tocqueville toured the United States right after the Civil War,
He said 'Democracy will survive in the United States until politicians find they can buy the people's
vote with the people's money',
Interesting!HOW LONG DO WE HAVE?
This is the most interesting thing I've read in a long time.
The sad thing about it, you can see it coming.
I have always heard about this democracy countdown.
It is interesting to see it in print. God help us.
How Long Do We Have?
About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787,
Alexander Tyler,
a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh,
had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:
'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist
as a permanent form of government.'
'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover
they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.'
From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury,
with the result that every democracy will
finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.'
'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history,
has been about 200 years'
'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. From courage to liberty;
4. From liberty to abundance;
5. From abundance to complacency;
6. From complacency to apathy;
7. From apathy to dependence;
8. From dependence back into bondage'
Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota,
points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:
Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29
Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1
Professor Olson adds: 'In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won
was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country.
Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements
and living off various forms of government welfare...'
Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the 'complacency and apathy'
phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's
population already having reached the 'governmental dependency' phase.
If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegals and they vote,
then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.
If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message.
If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake,
knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE,
ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE

CaptainDan is right regarding Obama and his support for the FTA with Peru....if U.S. big labor says pull your support, Obama will throw Peru under the bus. With a full Dem majority in the legislative branch and a Dem president, Peru will be lucky if the TLC isn't negated. Like him or not, the only reason we have a US-Peru FTA is because Bush put his political capital on the line. He made a lot of back office trades with the Dems to get them on board.

No one has suggested granting citizenship for the illegal immigrants, the only proposal that WAS out there was offering some of the illegal immigrants temporary work permits after they paid penalties and made restitution for breaking the law, and it hss almost no chance of passing a Democratic nor Republican congress, at least in this current fiscal state...but perhaps you can plant some fear in some people...so go ahead and just ignore the man behind the curtain.

Mericorps, according to the IRS's own data, the top 5% of taxpayers (those making $153,542 and up - the very group that Obama seeks to raise their taxes) already pay 60% of ALL federal income taxes. Obama promises to "cut taxes for 95% of American workers". That simply is not possible. Why? Because fully 30% of the U.S. wage earning population pay no federal income taxes at all (from the IRS data). Zero, zip, nada.

I support Obama for many reasons, but specially for the US national security. If McCain becomes president, then what IF something bad happens to him (I hope not) and Palin becomes president. THAT would be scary, because she doesn't seem ready for such as tough job. I cannot image her dealing with Russia, Venezuela, Iran, or Iraq.
Also, I support gay marriage, sexual education in schools, and cell research. McCain and Palin do not support any of these real problems, because they are too conservatives.
Maybe because I'm agnostic and these issues aren't a problem for me.
Have a good day.

McCain and Palin don't support many things, but they are not going out there promising to revoke the present rights to say get married to the same sex or outlaw stem cell research or overturn abortion practices.
McCain even said so himself that he is a "Federalist" meaning he believes in the STATE'S right to choose its laws.
What's the difference between Obama as President and Palin as President? Sorry, but you can say that they are BOTH inexperienced for the job! At least Palin actually has an 80%+ approval ratings meaning she's doing something right.
I don't understand why Latin Americans think that Obama is going to open the flood gates for Hispanics. The U.S. Government is a government designed on Checks and Balances, not dictatorship.
I lost respect for Bush, because he's not a leader, but I don't blame him for the economy...Did we forget about our legislative branch? They're the ones that control the pocketbooks.
Obama has a very questionable past and one should be suspicious about the amount of money he has raised and spent. There is obviously a hidden agenda and if there is no transparancy in the Obama campaign then why would there be transparency in an Obama Presidency?
I think Obama is a pawn and the world is going to play him like one. Why else would Chavez want to talk to him?
Obama does not come off as a trustworthy and experienced figure like McCain. I can't vote for a President that I don't trust.
Anyway, there's no swaying anyone's vote at this point, I think we've all made up our minds and we have or we are going to cast our ballots for the candidate that best suits us.

Every year 300 000 Peruvians go. Many of them go to your country because they are unhappy with the situation here.

Barack Obama is a friend to Latinos? The record demonstrates the opposite. Did you know that after the 2000 census that showed a tremendous growth in the Latino community of Chicago, Obama told reporters in Chicago that while everyone agrees that the Hispanic population has grown, they cannot expand by taking power from the African-American community? You heard right. But there's more. Did you know that Obama has never hired a Latino to a senior position in his office throughout his legislative career? Did you know that Obama has opposed trade with Mexico, Central America and Colombia, yet supports free trade with Africa? And during the immigration debate in the Senate, Obama ignored us in order to avoid upsetting labor unions and the voters in Iowa. And now after ignoring Latinos throughout his career, he promises us everything. Please Mr. Obama, Latinos are tired of the empty promises from politicians, like yourself, that offer us everything when you need our votes, but then forget about us. Mericorps, Maybe a word for you don't mean anything but for others in The U.S. and the rest of the world a word means everything. It was Barak Obama who said words are important.
You try to distract from the issues.
If Obama is a man of his "WORD" then indeed words are very important.
Obama is not a stupid man and I am sure he has a staff of professional writers, so it's hard for me to believe this was a mistake. It was his ad and his words, you can try to distract from the truth but people are not as dumb as Mr. Obama seems to think they are.
As far as cut and paste you are right or at least half right. It was the letter I sent to the Obama website and the McCain website. Rather then typing it all over again I copied and pasted it here. Do you feel better now that you know? By the way they have stopped running the ad. must be Obama agrees with me that words are important.
The Palin arguement doesn't hold water. At least she has executive experience and had done for her state exactly what any President would love to be able to do. Please the people she represents. 80% approval rating in her state after two years on the job. If she runs the country like she runs her state we have nothing to worry about.
Obama is a fast talking lawyer turned politician who will try to use those "unimportant Words" to sway the nation by any means possible to cast their vote for them. Without Words, Obama has nothing because he hasn't got the experience or the proven record of reform that McCain has.
One thing is for sure, Rachel is right no one is swaying anyones point of view at this point. I voted for McCain Saturday.
Mericorps, when we are talking about a sporting event, then it becomes a you win I lose thing. When we are talking about who will be the next President, it becomes a we all win or we all lose thing. I pray that we all win and I fear we may all lose.
One thing I want you all to know, If McCain wins he will be my President and if Obama wins he will also be my President. "We The People" need to come together behind our President and stop this party fighting. We are all Americans.
Everyone who can vote, please vote your choice and for the sake of all of us lets hope that whoever wins does good "By the People" and "For the People" of the U.S. and is able to create an enviroment of peace and prosperity around the world.

McCain gave what I thought was one of the greatest and most gracious consession speeches I have ever heard.
Not only has Obama won, but he has won by a larger percentage of any president in almost 40 years, it is clear and it is decisive.
Now the hard work begins, good luck and God Bless Mr. Obama.

Mayority of Americans want a change in the white house.
Americans should be proud of this election. It showed that anyone, redarless of economic background or race can become a president of US, just like the founder fathers spoke many years ago.
Good luck OBAMA!!
