During the meeting that Defense ministers of Peru and Bolivia will hold in La Paz, both countries will strengthen cooperation ties in order to reinforce security in the common border, the Peruvian head of this portfolio, Antero Flores-Aráoz, said Tuesday.
The Peruvian Defense minister said that his trip to Bolivia, from November 29 to Dicimber 1, responds to an invitation of his Bolivian counterpart Walker San Miguel, and he added that this does not have a defined agenda.
However, -he said- the meeting will seek to strengthen actions against smuggling and drug trafficking, supporting the police in the common border.
He indicated that both countries have great interest in these topics.
In addition, Flores Aráoz said that this is not a joint meeting between the heads of Defense and Foreign Affairs, known as “2+2”, but a meeting that is part of a permanent dialogue between both ministries.
“We will strengthen the cooperation ties between both countries, we have a very wide common border, a lake (Titicaca) in common which we have to protect; moreover, we have to reaffirm the positive things that join our countries”.
