Ancient tomb found near Machu Picchu

A group of Peruvian archaeologist at Torontoy Archaeological Complex dug up an amazing discovery located in the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu. A tomb of a person of unidentified gender and age was found accompanied by funerary trappings, pots, plates, an aryballos, a pitcher and a pair of garment pins or tupus.

According to Andina news agency, this discovery occurred in the sector B of Torontoy and corresponds to the archaeological research works of the budget 2008, according to the work’s resident archaeologist, Homar Gallegos Gutierrez.

In relation to the discovery of the funerary site are two hypotheses. The first one relates to the time of Torontoy foundation, which would correspond to the construction of the Inca urban plan, characterized by the Kanchas (rectangular spaces surrounded by walls enclosing several structures).
The second one would correspond to the cultural event of site desertion identified by bricked-up doors.

Both hypotheses will be contrasted when the multidisciplinary researches deepen.

I strongly want to deny this news!. The "person" found in funerary trappings was not a mummy from Inca's time... Idiots! that was my wife getting ready to see Cyndi Lauper in concert and all the other pre-historic rock heroes that are coming to Peru to make some quick cash for their retirement.

Well archaeological digging sites are exacavated at a fairly slow pace to avoid damaiging the remains and potential finds.  Hopefully their current budget will allow for proper carbon-dating tests to authenticate and date this discovery.  Sadly too many not-so-famous ruins' sites remain in disrepair and at risk of getting lost forever due to lack of funding and looting. Sad reality of these sites threatened by encroaching unregulated human settlements and lacking budget for preservation of Pre-columbian cultural legacy.
