In a press release issued by Ferrocarril Central Andino, the train company reported it had finished maintenance work on its tracks from the coastal city of Lima to Huancayo, which is located in the central highlands of Peru.
Round trips from Lima to Cerro de Pasco and Junin will now continue.
Sixteen trains left Lima this morning carrying products such as construction material, agricultural products and mining material.
The company has also announced that on Friday it will take four hundred tourists to Mantaro Valley. This is its third touristic trip this year.
Beginning in April, the company will organize two trips per month.
The train could be the main means of transportation between Lima and Peru's central highlands, said representatives from Ferrocarril Central Andino, explaining that it would be improving its tracks and strengthening bridges.
The company also announced that if a deal was established to build the Trasandino tunnel, a trip from Lima to Huancayo could take three and a half hours instead of six.
