Police officers outside the government buildings in the Limean district of Ate-Vitarte where Fujimori is being convicted, had to break up a riot between a group of members from the former president's political party and a group of members from the CTP workers union.
It was reported that the riot broke out when fifty people belonging to Peru's Workers Confederation (CTP) arrived to the police base and provoked over three hundred people belonging to Fujimori's political party.
The members of the political party immediately became upset and began battling with union members using sticks, reported El Comercio cameraman Sergio Sicheri.
Approximately twenty police officers had to separate the two groups and form a human chain between them to keep them from fighting.
More members of the workers union are arriving to the police base, which means the situation could get worse, said Sicheri.
