The Colca Canyon located in Arequipa, and Lake Titicaca, jumped to third and fourth places in the New Seven Wonders of Nature contest, increasing their posibilities to be among the top ones.

Voting for nominees will continue through July 7, 2009.

The top 77 nominees by group categories (the top 11 in each of the seven groups) will be eligible for consideration by the New7Wonders of Nature Panel of Experts.

Located at the northern end of the Highlands, the Lake Titicaca is the highest commercially navigable lake in the world.

I haven't been to Lake Titicaca yet but I can certainly say that the Colca Canyon deserves to be on that list. It is amazing and one of the most beautiful natural wonders I have seen in all my travels. Breathtaking vistas and the Condor, make it a place everyone should visit.
