The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) ensured that
there would be no problems with the electricity supply this year.
The Deputy Minister of Energy, Daniel Camac, said that nationwide users will not have to deal with power supply interruptions due to lack of natural gas or to low water storage for hydroelectric centrals, since the emergency plans take these variables into account.
He said that according to the hydrological indicators, a dry period is expected for the month of May.
However, appropriate measures have already been taken to reduce any risk of interruptions of the electricity supply.
He also commented that the demand would fluctuate this year between five and six percent, less than that reported in 2008, that would have closed at 8.5 percent.
