Under the slogan “"Exploring the most captivating places of Peru," the most conspicuous tourists attractions are being promoted on the most important Canadian newspapers, such as the National Post. # David N says :

Yeah, come on down Canadians and watch mounted police throw tear gas at savages in the city center. Choke on noxious fumes, swim in raw sewage in the polluted seas, get ripped off or possibly kidnapped and extorted by taxi drivers (when they're not running you over). Rent a car to see some of the country, and get harrased at toll booths by the PNP looking for bribes. Shop at rodent-infested markets with dogs depositing excrement on the floor and flies buzzing around dead chickens sitting out at room temperature, dripping blood on the floor.
Down here we not only lock the door, but also turn on the electric wire and bolt the iron gate. Then we listen to car and house alarms go off all night. It's just lovely.

This Canadian has already been to Peru four times and loves the people, scenery, food and ambience. The gentleman who writes above would probably have very negative comments about every place in the world. He should look into his own soul and try to discern why he is so miserable and seek mental and spiritual help.

I was in Peru for one month this year and I concur with Canadian Senior. I found the people to be very friendly...the food fabulous...and the scenery breathtaking. Although my base was just outside Lima I travelled to Cusco and Machu Picchu. Spectacular. I also shopped at local markets but I did not observe any rodent infestation nor did I encounter any canine excrement at the markets. I also ate meat and chicken that not only had flies buzzing around it but actually had flies on it, with no ill effects. Maybe the flies in Peru are cleaner than the flies in North America. As far as the taxi drivers...I found them to be very courteous and very helpful. Personally, I felt safer in and around Lima and Cusco than I do when I travel to Vancouver, BC. Negative attitude attracts negative energies.
