Peru to encourage railway development

The Ministry of Transports and Comunicaciones (MTC) hopes that the final studies for a projected railroad that would connect Huancavelica and Cusco will be ready this year.

The Minister, Enrique Cornejo, said that “we are retaking the way to railway development. Years ago the railroad was a powerful instrument for integration and development of the country, and for diverse reasons it paused.”

The train route of the Huancayo-Huancavelica, locally known as “Tren Macho” (“Macho Train”) is currently under State administration and undergoing a rehabilitation process, that will conclude in the second semester of this year.

“Our policy now is to promote the railway development, but the private investment will have a fundamental role in this project”, Cornejo emphasized.

Developing railways is an excellent way to enhance the infrastructure of Peru.  I am glad to hear this is being done.

Yes, turning to the subject, I think it would be great for Peru to continue to develop this as well.
