According to the National Institute for Statistics and Information (INEI), the departures of Peruvian citizens to another countries was 172,940 (51,2% men and 48,8% women) in April,
which means a 6.3% drop compared to the same month last year.
The main destinations are Chile with 45.6%, Bolivia with 13.4%, the U.S. (11.5%), Ecuador (7%), Spain (4.2%), Argentina (3.5%) and Colombia (3.3%).
Regarding trips through Lima's Jorge Chavez International Airport, the U.S. was the main destination country with 29.9%, followed by Spain with 10.9%, Argentina (9%), Colombia (8.5%), Chile (7.2%), and Brazil (5.8%), among other countries.
On the other hand, 189,391 foreigners (55.7% men and 44.3% women) arrived to Peru in April 2009.
