Peru’s silver production to grow

Peru’s silver production would increase 3% this year, totaling 3.800 metric tons (MT), according to data from the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE).

Reportedly, the top silver-producing companies in Peru are Volcan Compañía Minera, Compañía de Minas Buenaventura, Compañía Minera Antamina, Compañía Minera Ares, Pan American Silver, Sociedad Minera El Brocal and Empresa Minera Los Quenuales

During last year (2008), Peru produced 3.685 metric tons of silver, a 5.27% increase compared to 2007 (3.501 MT).

The world’s largest producers of silver are Peru (3.685 MT), Mexico (3.241 MT), China (2.575 MT), Australia (1.925 MT) and Chile (1.397 MT).
