Questioning to Peru's Prime Minister postponed until Thursday

The Congress's questioning to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior, Mercedes Cabanillas, originally scheduled for tomorrow, was postponed to Thursday 25th.

The Congress took this decision so that Simon can have more time to attend meetings in Andahuaylas (Huancavelica) and Sicuani (Cusco).

Meanwhile, Simon announced the creation of a committee in Andahuaylas, intended to find suitable solutions for the different demands of the local communities.

Simon also declared to Radio Programas del Peru (RPP) that he had “a very extensive dialogue and I have not seen problems."

However, Simon made clear that the talks have not included yet the issue of Andahuaylas' airport, which the locals are afraid will be privatized.

It's hilarious to watch the Congress down here on TV.  Screaming, fighting, just like the yokels from the hills they are.  Totally unprofessional, better than wrestling.  Rednecks back in the United States have NOTHING on

Sorry David but the only one that sounds like an ignorant inbred hick is you. Your string on negative comments on this website always make me laugh because you sound so ridiculous. Keep it up, your embittered attacks just crack me up. Although the sad thing is, you probably believe all the bile you spew

So whats wrong with a privatised airport?   Works well everywhere else.

I think there needs to be more privatization, and ultimately increased competition in certain areas of public life in Peru, could a private company really make more of an arse of things than the state?

Just make sure they pay reasonable taxes and are accountable to an independent external body which has the power to revoke contracts.

The only thing that needs to have less private involvement is the ridiculous two tier health system, which is, at best, a life or death lottery for the poor and top notch for the wealthy.

If the movers and shakers had no option but to attend public hospitals we would soon see a sharp increase in the standard of services.

I was listening first part of interpellation from congress to prime mister Simon.I found quit positive that the topic of freedom of expression was long discussed in congress. The time which was given to the topic of freedom of expression once more proved that in deed things have to be corrected into the right direction. It seems very clear that canal 7 was used only from government for propaganda and hopefully after this appellation the canal will be used in  a new form- more education, more dialogue, more transparency, more auto reflection.
In the first part of appellation was touched the possible government intervention in canal 5 power changes and intervention from other institutions.Hopefully in upcoming times we see also in this canal new programs which dedicate their political reports in a neutral way and open new spaces for overound and helpful information’s to Peruvians.Quit surprising for me was to see that on another canal were a few days ago one opposition congressman had to explain about his different religion and another young opposition lady was hardly let spoken out and received with jokes it seems a new tone of how to make an interview started. Hopefully we see this corrected style in upcoming times and won’t be surprised again with performance which international journalism practice might describe as poor and unfair. Prime minister Simon made an interesting and outstanding proposal today against corruption- open bank accounts from congressmen and ministers – we have to thank him for his interesting idea – a very good step into the direction of more transparency and good guideline into direction of true democracy. Peruvians’ will remember him for being the first to let see his numbers. Anyhow   I think after what happens in Bagua and the big amount of people who died there it would be good that he takes political consequences and steps down.
History in years might judge mister Simon more mild when truth about events in the jungle will be complete discovered and we have the names all those on the desk who gave the orders, were involved , took wrong decisions  or underestimate the situation there.
In deed – and this congress wont discuss today many Peruvians are curious about what is really behind Petrogate and all the suite goings in and out from public figures. Leading figures from the country sooner than later will have to give answer on that.
