Javier Velasquez, Peru's Prime Minister, said that the government will apply the new Transit Code, because it is something that will benefit all the citizens.
"The government has decided that things need to improve regarding public transport," he remarked.
In addition, the Enrique Cornejo, Transport's Minister, said that despite all the Executive's efforts, they did not reach any agreement with a sector of public transport workers, who reportedly will go on strike tomorrow.
He asked all the Peruvians por patience with the problems that this might generate, remarking that an 80% of the public transport will be operating tomorrow (Tuesday), with almost 16,000 public transport vehicles.
He also remarked that the Electric Train and the Central Railroad will be operating too.
However, another sector of drivers and fares collectors claim that 90% of them will actually go on strike tomorrow, alleging that the ones that met with the ministers "
are not representative."
