The Regional Director of Foreign Trade, Tourism and Handicrafts, said that
new security measures will be adopted to in order to protect tourists traveling through the Amazon area.
This decision, aiming to protects tourists and visitors, was took one day after the Peruvian chef Gastón Acurio and another 24 passengers were assaulted by a band of 7 thugs
"I still can't reveal what these measures will be but you all can be sure that this issue is a priority in our work agenda now,” she said.
She remarked, however, that is is the first time something like this happens.
"We regret what happened, but it will be corrected. We hope it will be the last time,” she said, taking note that these routes along the Amazon river have a great demand now.
