Peru's Callao Port new South Dock to be ready in April 2010

According to Dubai Ports (DP) World, the construction of Muelle Sur container terminal in Peru's busiest port of Callao is now 46% complete, and will be ready to start operations in April or May next year.
Once operations start, Peru will be able to handle 2 millions of additional containers per year, and the traffic of Callao port will increase by 60% or 70%.
This improvement will also allow Callao port to receive bigger ships.
Bottger noted that DP World has not informed about the fees it will charge for its services, but it is expected that they would be 28% and 29% lower than the ones they charge in San Antonio port (Chile.)
DP World, a leader in international marine terminal operations and development, is authorized to build and operate Muelle Sur Terminal facilities at the port of Callao.
