Peru to have wind power in the near future

According to Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mining (MEM) the tender for electricity generation services  using renovable energy resources (500MW) will be open on October 2009.

The tender includes any of the renovable energy types such as biomass, wind, solar, geotermic, hydraulic, etc.

The total of energy required reaches 1.314 GWh, which means a potency of 500 MW.

The Peruvian Association of Renovable Energies (APER) expresed that, according to their figures, this would save Peru almost US $ 60 million dollars per year.

APER's studies suggest that some of the best spots in Peru to install wind power generators would be in Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Huacho, Marcona, Arequipa, Atico, Ilo, among some other places.

Thought the PE government had allot of this resource from what my Peruvian family always tells me, we have allot of wind in the US government too.In Peru it´s  more out of proportion and I think a part of your culture to lie, to the people, and eachother.I blame your government for teaching you this bad habbit. An unkept promise is nothing more than wind. I love your country and need to get used to allot of extra wind and just let let life blow by,and not take what I HEAR to heart. You may need wind farms as well.ya ya ya ya ya chow............

I think american politians are just better liars and better at hiding it. Not only do they lie about things in your own country but mettle and lie about things that they should not be invovled in other countries.

I dont want to offend or meddle too much. I believe to US government has master lieing and exploting other countries better than the early Spanish and English envadors. THE honesty I´ve learned may be from my upbringing and not my government,or the USA.In time the governments learn to keep promises and lie to you better.Peru is a good country with good people who have a voice and should take a stand for what they really believe and want.Hope you find an honest leader with a consistant record of honest policy that follows his or her career,or rule! Viva Peru...

I'm not sure why these comments are so off-topic.

The strides Perú is taking to incorporate wind energy into the mix is commendable. If the government is unable or unwilling to accomplish all it sets out to do, then I still credit them with trying. It's complicated and challenging to create change.

Perú has tremendous potential in our wind energy, and over time I'm certain that we'll see more and more wind energy projects. This has nothing to do with imperialism. It's about tapping Peruvian resources to use in Perú... though it would be wonderful to see these projects financed by Peruvians or the Peruvian government, the progress and growth being made in Peru via foreign investment is unshakable evidence of the importance of encouraging this to continue.

Viva Peru!
