Peru: Controversy on alleged closure of Chiclayo's Airport

Following technical recommendations from the Civil Defence Committee, specialists from the Tax Administration Service (SATCH) at Chiclayo (Lambayeque region) closed down the International Airport José A. Quiñones González.
José Inicio, from SATCH, explained that not only Civil Defense inspectors found several deficiencies in the terminal. They also discovered that the company Aeropuertos del Peru (AdP), which is currently operating the Chiclayo airport, did not obtain a Civil Defense Certification, despite being granted the concession of the airport a year ago.
However, Leonie Roca, General Manager of AdP, said that AdP was to pay the fine and keep the airport operating, and expressed her disagreement with SATCH's decision, which "has caused unnecessary alarm among passengers."
