According to Peru's Central Bank of Reserve (BCR), remittances sent (to thir families) by Peruvians working abroad amounted US $ 564 million dollars during 2009's second quarter, which is the highest figure this year, and also an increase of 5.2% compared to the first quarter.

Remittances from the United States to Peru rose 3.4% during the second quarter, while those sent from other countries grew by 6.5% in the same period.

Also, Peruvians seems to trust more in bank services, since the percentage of remittances coursed through banks grew 10.4% percent during the second quarter of 2009.

BCR's last year figures also indicate that total remittances sent to Peru during 2008 amounted to US$2.43 billions.
