This morning, Inca Rail and Andean Railways, the new railway operators in Cusco-Machu Picchu routes,
oficially signed the contracts to start working soon.
During the ceremony held today at Country Club Lima Hotel, Inca Rail's Director, Juan Forsyth, announced that their maiden trip will take place on September 19th, while Andean Railways' President, Daniel Amado, said that they will start operating on October 1st.
Peru Rail's General Manager, Armando Pareja, told the press that with this opening to competition “the touristic industry will be improved.”
The contract's signature was supervised by Ositran's President, Juan Carlos Zevallos. According to the contract's terms, Peru Rail will keep 10 services a day, and the other 8 will be covered by the new operators.
