In summer workshop, children will get to participate in excavations at Lima’s Huaca Pucllana. Oh, to be a child again! Summers away from school, carefree days free of work or stress, really cool archaeology workshops.
I’m not kidding: Miraflores will offer a summer archaeology workshop aimed at kids from ages seven to 13.
According to Andina, the workshop will me made of a number of events, activities, and expeditions, all of which will take place between Jan. 4 and Mar. 31. Places in the program are limited, and the official launch will Dec. 26, at 11:00 AM at the Huaca Pucllana in Miraflores.
Andina reports that children will have the opportunity to take part in an excavation at the Huaca Pucllana. They will also go on trips to sites around the city, on which they can be accompanied by their parents.
Kids will learn about the technical aspects of archaeology, including material analysis and proper documentation procedures for new finds. The program is a combination of more traditional classes as well as activities that will take participants across the city to places like Pachacamac and Callao Bay.
