According to La República, Peru's National Commission of Research and Aerospace Development (CONIDA) launched successfully into space the second Peruvian rocket, the “Paulet IM,” which is now orbiting the Earth in order to accomplish some exploration tasks.

“This rocket will allow us to explore atmosphere's high altitudes, measure the air pollution, monitor the excess of CO2, the ozone layer and the ionospheric effects produced under the Sun's influence,” said CONIDA's Chief, Air Force Colonel FAP Juan Pasco Barriga.

The Paulet IM, which is 2.80m long and weighs approximately 90 kg, has been 100% designed and built by Peruvian scientists from Peru's Air Force and CONIDA.

Hola todos. What a joke.....measure the atmosphere at a high level....far more appropriate to measure the ground level pollution around Lima and suburbs(like Comas) and fix those problems. There are enough satellites in space from other countries doing the same thing without Peru "throwing money into space" for no other reason than to say..."look, we can send up rockets & satellites too!!"
Come on.....address pollution and health issues in your own back yard.

So it is just a rocket that is going up and then falling back down at some point after returning some readings?

Or was an actual sattelite deployed by the rocket? I guess that might be hard with only 90 Kgs.

Either way, nice to see some good science taking place.
