The Municipality of Miraflores, due to a educational campaign about safety in the streets, has reduced the number of transit accidents, according to El Comercio. # Splaktar says :

To reduce accidents further the police need to give out traffic tickets. Stop signs do not mean anything here as no one stops for them. To make it safer for children there should be a car seat law for toddlers and no children on laps in the front seat. What good are laws though if they are not enforced.
Unsafe automobiles should be banned. This would probably reduce traffic by 50% and make the air quality acceptable.

I have to agree that the combis tend to be dangerous.Add your comment
I would like to see the combis replaced with modern full sized busses that are safer and run on NGL liquid natural gas for a cleaner atmosphere to breathe,
I hope that the safety inspection will start removing the unsafe combis from the road.
I hope that the police will ticket the combi drivers whom have wrecks and break traffic laws.
