The Federacion Nacional Deportiva De Tabla (FENTA) has re-signed as event licensee holders of the ASP Women’s World Tour event in Peru for a further two years, promoting the return of ASP Top 17 to the country through 2011.
“We are proud to continue our support of the best women surfers in the world,” Guillermo Gonzales, FENTA President, said. “We look forward to having them return to Peru for many years to come.”
Into its third year as an ASP Women’s World Tour event, the Movistar Peru Classic presented by Rip Curl has become a staple amongst the world’s best female surfers.
Sofia Mulanovich (PER), 26, former ASP Women’s World Champion (2003) and current ASP Women’s World No. 6, is a sporting icon in Peru, having transcended from practicing at her home beaches of Peru to reach the greatest heights in professional surfing.
“Surfing is way bigger now than it used to be when I was growing up,” Mulanovich said. “There is way more support and way more talent. There are a lot of kids that are ripping now days and the future looks bright.”
The Movistar Peru Classic presented by Rip Curl will host the ASP Top 17 from November 3 – 8, 2009. The event will be webcast LIVE via www.aspworldtour.com
