Peru: ProInversión postpones the tender of southern airports

Juvenal Ordoñez, the Congressman representing the region of Tacna, confirmed that ProInversion has decided to postpone the tender of its southern airports to private sector for February 2010.
The fifth version of the concession contract - recently pushed back from October 30th to November 13th is now due to November 23th.
Ordóñez said that the government should reconsider the political implications, since the Carlos Ciriani Airport (in Tacna) has a strategical location due to its proximity to the Chilean border.
According to BNAmericas, the companies interested in submitting their proposals will have time until December 7th.
According to Andina news agency, the concession package includes six airports: Apurímac region's Andahuaylas airport, terminals in the regions of Arequipa and Ayacucho, Puno's Juliaca, Puerto Maldonado in Madre de Dios and Tacna.
