Lima woke up with its streets completely wet due to a unusual heavy rain that lasted for eight hours, something that is not expected during this time of the year, nearing early summer.
The National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (Senamhi) indicated that this rain has been the most intense in recent years and that it could happen again anytime this week.
"In the east areas of Lima we had some drops around 8pm., and then it started again around 2am this morning: but in some districts it's been raining all night long, until 10am,” said meteorologist Nelson Quispe.
This phenomenon is related to the presence of heavy rains in certain areas of the mountains, which are swept by winds toward the country's central coast, especially in the evening.
