helping Haiti out is fine and I'm all for that, but what about those who seriously are in need here in Peru? over two years have gone by and Ica and Pisco are still in need of major financial assistance, how many schools in Lima and in the provinces are in disgraceful, unacceptable and dangerous conditions, let's not forget the thousands of victims who's lives have been shattered by the recent rainstorms and floodings and mudslides, etc., etc. Saying that there is no money for police and military raises? C'mon now! There seems to be money when it comes to ministers, congress people and their pet projects and shady dealings. The earthquake in Haiti was a month ago, why all of a sudden the urge for generosity? Don't get me wrong, Haiti is in desparate need of donations of all kind and it's good to know tha Peru is doing something to help, however, the government of Peru has been seriously lacking at home and needs to show some serious determination and generosity towards the support and well being of it's own people as well!

Sounds like a case of window dressing to try and look good!
When Peru can get by without "ayuda" from abroad to assist Peruvians after natural disasters such as earthquakes and landslides - then, and only then, should Peru be rebuilding schools, roads, etc. in other countries. Charity begins at home.
Peru needs every $, peso, sole it has for it's own educational and medical systems. Sending money abroad and then taking "ayuda" from abroad is simply moving money from one pocket to the other. SHAME!!

I know many helped Peru when they needed it and Peru should help when it can, but with people in Pisco living in tents and without schools and hospitals, people all up and downt he country suffering from floods to the tune of a billion dollars, Peru..this is not the time for you to help Haiti.

It's a nice gesture to help Haiti a country that it's in need but what about our own people in Ica, they still need help !!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm absolutely shocked that the government of Peru would send money to Haiti when they have so many needy people in their own country. I am from the U.S. but have very dear friends in Callao. One family I am friends with who lives near the water and the Naval Base still doesn't have a roof after the earthquake two years ago. They have pieces of plywood over their heads and the rain comes into their home. They live in Government housing, but the government has done nothing to help them. I send money every month, but I can never send enough to help them get ahead. They don't have the money to eat regular, nutritious meals. The streets are completely torn up with large pieces of concrete and other debris in the roads. The housing in that entire area is sub-par and the infrastructure is dilapidated.

Very nice of you to help your friends in Callao, butr I can not help but ask - why does a woman have children if her/their economic situation is so dire. I assume there are children involved and the parent[s] are not mentally or physically handicapped/challanged. "Ayuda" from abroad or at home is not a way to live.
