There is a new glossy food magazine to accompany the gastronomic scene in Lima. The first issue of Diva Kozina was launched on Feb. 20. Its 80 pages contains 18 articles, including restaurant reviews, interviews with chefs, recipes and wine recommendations. (All text is in Spanish.)

February's issue highlights Maido, the Japanese restaurant in Miraflores, along with a profile of its chef and creator Mistuhara Tsumara.

Three chefs give their recipes on creative Peruvian pizzas: A shrimp in ocopa pizza by Javier Ampuero (the magazine's house chef), a ham and goat cheese pizza by Virgilio Martínez, and a Pachamanca pizza by Fernando Pacheco.

Other highlights include an essay from abroad about the Spanish restaurant El Bulli, an interview with Ernesto Cabellos, director of the food documentary De Ollas y Sueños (see our review here), and a homage to El Juanito, Barranco's quintessential bohemian hangout.

Diva Kozina is a monthly and is available at Wong, Vivanda, bookstores Zeta and Crisol for 15 soles.

The idea is great. However, the name Kozina can create misinterpretations. The formidable variety of ingredients in Peru and the emergent number of well qualified chefs can replicate shows like Iron Chef (e.g Japan or USA) or something like that. Good luck Diva Kozina.
