Ex- spy chief Vladimiro Montesinos admitted before the Second Anti-Corruption Court that he coordinated with a group of military leaders an attempted coup d'etat against the regime of ex- president Alberto Fujimori, with the purpose of installing a military government in 2000, which was going to be presided by ex- minister Carlos Boloña.

Montesinos confesses participation in planned coup d'etat in 2000
Ex- spy chief Vladimiro Montesinos admitted before the Second Anti-Corruption Court that he coordinated with a group of military leaders an attempted coup d'etat against the regime of ex- president Alberto Fujimori, with the purpose of installing a military government in 2000, which was going to be presided by ex- minister Carlos Boloña.
The plot was discovered after the Public Ministry received audio tapes and several documents
from the ex- right arm of Montesinos,
colonel EP Roberto Huamán Azcurra.
With
this confession Montesinos recognized his criminal
responsibility for conspiracy and rebellion.
The Anti-corruption court will hand out its sentence today, Wednesday, at 3:45 p.m., at the Naval Base of the Callao, where the ex- adviser of the National Intelligence service is incarcerated.
