Law and Order | 9 July, 2006 [ 11:53 ]Prosecution presents new evidence against 'Shining Path' terrorists
Leading prosecutor Luz Ibáñez Carranza presented a series of videos and unpublished material demonstrating the responsibility and permanent coordination between the leader of the maoist guerrilla group 'Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) Abimael Guzmán, his lieutenants and executive members.
“With this evidence they no longer can say that the group leaders were only the thinkers. In these videos they demonstrate that they planned, ordered, controlled, and evaluated the outcome of each action”, she explained. “In one video you can see Martha Huatay, who now says that she was only the lawyer of the Senderistas, in meetings with Nilton Dávalos, Cruz Arismendi and Oreste Nail, who prepared the car bombs”, Ibáñez said.
Another video shows Angelica Salas, member of the terrorists' "Central Committee" with Alberto Arana, director of the Academy César Vallejo, who provided the money in support of Guzmán and his "politburo".
Additionally she presented plans of the attacks, before and later, among other documents.
